On Saturday November 7th, 2009 for the 3rd consecutive year, www.totallybarbados.com,
a website offering a comprehensive guide to the island of Barbados, was voted "The
Caribbean's Leading Overall Travel Information Website."
Totally Barbados gained further recognition the following evening on November 8th, 2009 when it also captured this year's
award for the "World's Leading Travel Destination Website".
Brett Callaghan, founder and Managing Director of Totally Barbados, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), started the website
which features over 5,000 pages of information about Barbados, using search engine optimization (SEO), so that finding articles, events
and other listings are made as easy as possible for all those throughout the world searching for information about Barbados.
The 35 year old Callaghan who started his career as a jockey racing at the
Garrison Savannah, Woodbine and
Fort Erie racetracks in Canada, before working at CIBC Mortgages Inc. in the banking industry
in Toronto for another 6 years, returned home, and started the website in September 2005.
Since then, www.totallybarbados.com has gone from strength to strength, capturing the awards
as the "Caribbean's Leading Overall Travel Information Website" in 2007,
2008 and now 2009, as well as capturing the awards for the "World's Leading
Travel Destination Website" in 2008 and 2009.
For the first time this year's World Travel Awards featured the 120
Miss World contestants representing almost every country in the world, and the girls presented
the awards during the World Travel Awards 2009 Gala ceremony held at the
Grosvenor House A JW Marriott Hotel,
in London, England.
