National Conservation Commission

In 1982 the government of Barabdos passed an act that introduced The National Conservation Commission (NCC) to ensure that the beauty of Barbados' beaches and parks were maintained and enhanced.
It is their role to conserve the natural beauty of the island, its historical buildings, sites and monuments. They control, maintain and develop public parks, gardens, beaches and caves. They also develop and maintain public access to all beaches.
On the majority of beaches you will find lifeguards and beach security both of which are provided by NCC.
They are also responsible for beach facilities such as toilets, changing rooms and showers, not all beaches have these facilities but NCC is working to redevelop certain beaches and is providing new facilities all the time.
