Barbados Sandy Crest Medical Centre Healthcare

In February 2006, the island of Barbados became home to a state of the art, 24-hour all-encompassing health facility on the West Coast. Sandy Crest Medical Centre is located in Sunset Crest, St. James.
Sandy Crest is situated in the Golden Anchorage building, obliquely opposite Chefette Holetown. This building formerly housed a Ninety Nine Convenience Store, the Royal Bank of Canada and St. James Travel.
Sandy Crest has placed great emphasis on quality of service and to this end has painstakingly identified and employed a number of amiable, highly trained and dynamic staff.
The developers of Sandy Crest have worked very closely with their architects and contractors to design an environment that is responsive to the patients. The relaxing tone for the patient's visit is set with a strategically placed 8 foot marine fish tank that can be admired by all in the primary waiting area. The atmosphere of the facility is further enhanced by a discerning mix of colours, textures, and lighting.
Sandy Crest's 24 hour services will include:
- a comprehensive emergency care department
- the latest in X-ray, ultrasound and CT technology
- a wide range of point-of-care blood testing
- a pharmacy
- ambulance service
- call out GP services
- pediatric services
- Language translation services catering to the non-English speaking patient
Barbados' longest serving radiology services, Diagnostic Radiology, will manage the digitized and ultramodern teleradiology facility, while Knights Pharmacy, Barbados' leading pharmacy chain, will provide a comprehensive solution to the patient's pharmaceutical needs.
Additional services to be added and developed include:
- on-site primary care service - General Practice and Pediatric
- pain management therapy
- dressing care
- physiotherapy
- occupational therapy
- a rotating specialist consultation unit
Ultimately it is the intention of Sandy Crest, Diagnostic Radiology and Knights Pharmacy to provide a patient-focused five-star service, at an affordable price, to both Barbadians and tourists alike.

Hello: I am a asthma educator, certified in Canada. I also am registered to do full pulmonary function testing, including spirometry screening. Do you have any services available to your patients to aid in the control and management of asthma and COPD? I may be relocating in Barbados and I am looking into opportunities on the island.
I am also wondering whether Canadian certified physician assistants are qualified to work in Barbados under the delegation of a primary care physician.
