St. Lucy is located on the north coast of Barbados and is rather undeveloped compared to its neighbouring west coast, which is a hive of activity.
Going to St. Lucy is like stepping back in time and it has some interesting places to visit and so it is well worth taking a trip up there.
If you are a keen surfer then you will find excellent waves at Maycocks Bay, this is also one of the only beaches in this parish even though the entire parish is surrounded by water.
Geographically, this coast is very rugged with stunning scenery and a ragged cliffside to walk along. Other inlets for beaches are Cove Bay, Little Bay and River Bay but it is not advised to swim at any of these, as the current is too strong.
Cove Bay is well worth a visit as you can see the entire beauty of the east coast from here.
There are two lighthouses in this parish and they are Harrison's Point Lighthouse and North Point.
You can also visit the Animal Flower Cave right at the top of the island, this cave was created through years of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the cliff, and you can only enter the cave when the sea isn't too rough.
Once inside you will find the 'animal flowers', which are filter feeding tubeworms that wave their tentacles around, numbers have depleted but this is still a great place to visit.
Another place of interest in this parish is Fustic House, a rather grand plantation house, which is not open to the public but is available to rent as a private holiday home.

Another lovely place to stay in this parish is Little Good Harbour, which is still on the west coast and therefore enjoys calm water for swimming.
You will also find Mount Gay in St. Lucy, the original home of the island's famous rum and from where it got it's name. The plant is still operational, but for a full tour of the factory and the history of rum, you need to visit the Mount Gay factory in Bridgetown.
There are three churches in this parish to visit and they are St. Lucy's Parish Church, St. Clements Church and St. Swithin's Church, all of which are beautiful old Anglican churches.
St. Lucy is very unspoilt part of Barbados with some beautiful scenery and it is quite pleasant to drive around.
