Rihanna wins two awards at 2008 American Music Awards

Barbados International song queen Rihanna was another big winner at the 2008 American Music awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on November 23rd, 2008.
The 20-year-old songstress was named favourite female artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories.
Rihanna (real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty), also performed her love ballad "Rehab" on the show, wearing chains and a leather corset.
It was another in a continuing series of wins for the Barbadian lass, who took home her first Grammy on February 10th, 2008 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (with Jay-Z).
When she arrived for the AMA show, Rihanna made a bold style statement in an ivory-coloured short strapless dress, accessorized with matching gloves, high heels, chunky oval earrings and a glittery clutch bag.
Rihanna's close personal companion, Chris Brown, who sat with her at the show, took the night's top honors... artist of the year...as well as favourite male artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories.
"I was shocked," the 19-year-old crooner said backstage. "I'm so thankful and grateful. I thought Coldplay should have won the award, but I'll take it."
The 36th American Music Awards show was watched live by millions around the world on ABC TV and fans chose the night's winners through online voting.
Others performing on the show included Beyonce, NeYo, the Pussycat Dolls and Miley Cyrus.
