Cruising Six-Pack 

About 10,000 cruise ship passengers came to shore On Wednesday November 21st, 2007 as six vessels stopped by for the day. 

The Ocean Village, Ocean Village II, Holiday Dream, Carnival Destiny, Constellation and the Norwegian Pearl dropped anchor, giving their passengers a day in the Bajan sun. 

It was a day packed with every form of leisure activity as the tourists took tours, got suntans, cycled around the island, shopped duty-free and enjoyed the usual holiday activities.

Major Rihanna award 

The Shining Superstar that is Robyn Rihanna Fenty got even brighter Sunday night when she copped her biggest award at the prestigious American Music Awards (AMAs) show in Los Angeles. 

The 19-year-old Bajan sensation took the award of Favourite Female Artist, Soul/R&B, beating out more experienced and renowned nominees including pop divas, Beyoncé and Fantasia, and adding this to a string of 2007 achievements that included two MTV awards, World Music Awards, dominance of the Billboard Top 100, and a ten-week run atop the British charts.....read more at Nation News.



Big Push To Make Barbados Airport Category 1

In Early December 2007, Barbados will come under exacting scrutiny from United States and regional aviation officials that could lead to this country achieving the coveted Category 1 status by yearend. 

"What that means for us," says Senator Rudy Grant, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, "is that [air] carriers can now register their operations in Barbados and can fly from Barbados to any point in the United States. 

"Even though there are bilateral agreements between Barbados and the US, there are still certain provisions that require Category 1 status. We have a number of private jets, for instance, operating in Barbados, registered in the United States, but for all intents and purposes they are really based in Barbados.....read more at Nation News.


Windies Upbeat

A change in the West Indies cricketers' attitude and full respect to Caribbean-based joint coaches David Williams and Hendy Springer, who are deputising for recently appointed head coach, Australian John Dyson. 

This, according to Trinidadian David Williams, is one of the positives of the two-week pre-Zimbabwe/South Africa training camp which ended before midday yesterday at Kensington Oval.....read more at Nation News.
