End of Summer Dinghy Regatta
|
The End of Summer Dinghy Regatta will take place this Sunday 10th September in Carlisle Bay. The event will begin at 9:30am and is organized by the Barbados Optimist Dinghy Association in conjunction with the Barbados Sailing Association. The prizes for the event are being sponsored by Virgin Atlantic.
This regatta marks the culmination of eight weeks of summer sail training camps. Although this competition is mostly for the students of these camps, more experienced sailors will also be participating. There will be several different classes, including:
- Laser Standard
- Laser Radial
- Echo 12 (2 man dinghy)
- Topper
- Optimist Green Fleet (those that have just recently learned to sail)
- Optimist Gold Fleet.
Don't miss this event, as it is a great opportunity to have fun with family and friends, meet some new people and support our young Barbadian sailors.
Also coming up on September 17th, the Barbados Sailing Association will be beginning the 2006 National Dinghy Championships. These Championships are open to any dinghy sailor regardless of experience and will take place over 8 separate Sundays. Contact the Barbados Sailing Association for more information.
