This 3-day wind and kite surfing event will be held on Silver Rock beach in Christ Church on Saturday Jan 20, Sunday Jan 21 and Monday Jan 22 2007. There are 4 different races, which are Kite Expression, Wind Expression, Wind Slalom and Downwind racing. Wind sports enthusiasts of all levels are encouraged to enter as there will be cash prizes given for first, second and third places in all four races.
The event is for every wind sports enthusiast, as Barbados experiences excellent conditions for wind surfing and kite surfing. The first Windfest was held in Barbados in 2006, and was a one-day event, which saw competitors from Italy, France, Germany, the UK and the Caribbean participating.
The event will see not only wind sports enthusiasts racing on the water, but there will also be tournaments on the beach held by the Barbados Volley Ball Association, along with tents selling clothing, art & crafts, food and drinks. It should be an excellent day out for the entire family with plenty to eat and drink and lots of beach games for those not adventurous enough to compete!
After each full day of activities on the beach the organisers have teamed up with local bars to offer an after party on each night of the event, with free admission to the Banana Boat Windfest revellers with the aim being to promote wind sports and Barbados as the place to have a wind sporting holiday!
If you wish to compete in the racing then please attend the competitors registration meeting on Friday 19 January 2007 at 8pm at Surfer's Bay Beach Bar, Silver Sands, Christ Church.
