This unique Theatre company will be performing the Noel Coward classis Blithe Spirit, adapted to be set in Barbados around the time of Independence and will premier at Holders on March 16, with a further performance on March 19, then will transfer to The Frank Collymore Hall until March 27.
The group is a mix of actors from London's West End working with local Barbadian actors. The group are also performing a rehearsed reading from The Glass Menagerie for CXC students, and will also showcase local talent with a group of young people who have attended the group's Theatre workshop for 10 days during the event.
The Theatre company is the brainchild of London actresses Alphonsia Emmanuel & Melissa Simmonds, who have enlisted the help of local Barbadian lawyer Dr. Trevor Carmichael. They all had one common goal and that was to bring classic Theatre to Barbados and to provide educational material for students. They wanted local Barbadian actors to benefit from working with London's finest, and also wanted those interested in acting as a career to benefit from their 10 day workshop teaching stagecraft.
Blithe Spirit is one of Noel Coward's masterpieces, this hilarious farce is set the home of Charles & Ruth Condomine, who have organised a séance as research for Charles' new book, with the help of Madame Arcarti an eccentric local medium they raise the spirit of Charles' dead wife Elvira, with comical consequence!
This year's production of Blithe Spirit sees performances from Peter Temple, a leasing London actor who has just finished a sell out performance in London's West End as Peter Sellers in Ying Tong - A walk with the Goons, who will play Charles.
Alphonsia Emmanuel who has appeared in numerous Theatre, film and TV productions in the UK will play his second wife Ruth.
Lorna Gayle, a renowned actress with the UK's Royal Shakespeare Company will play Madame Arcati.
Olivia Caffrey, a very well known TV actress will play the dead spirit of Elvira.
Samud Ali, a well-known actor and radio personality in Barbados has been cast as Dr. Bradman.
Varia Williams, who is also Barbadian and has numerous Theatre credits, will play Mrs.Bradman.
Ayesha Gibson, another Barbadian actress, who has performed in quite a few other local productions, has been cast as Edith the maid.
