Speaker: Professor Andrew Downes
The featured speaker at the 15th annual Louis Lynch Memorial Lecture is Professor Andrew Downes, a Professor of Economics at the University of the West Indies-Cave Hill Campus and Director of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies.
Professor Downes has held several advisory positions, and served as Chairman, Executive Committee, Caribbean Centre for Monetary Studies, as well as Lead Negotiator for CARICOM, Consultative Group on Smaller Economies, FTAA Negotiations.
A Barbadian national, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manchester and an M.Sc. (Economics) University of the West Indies and B.Sc. (Economics) University of the West Indies. His main research interests are in: Applied Econometrics, Human Resource and Labour Economics, Economics of Business Decisions/Organisational Economics, and Economic Growth and Development in Small Developing Countries.
The holder of numerous academic awards and fellowships, Professor Downes lectures in the area of quantitative economics, a strength he brings to the Regional Negotiating Machinery as an advisor.
