GEORGE TUATON, a native of Nigeria began his carving career in 1982 and has worked for a few galleries and collectors, including Afikarts in Lagos, Nigeria.
Along with a group of artists, he has exhibited his sculptures in the USA, Germany, Spain, Holland, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Switzerland.
In 1984 he extensively researched the art of woodcarving along the Ivory Coast. He currently resides in Senegal where he specializes in working with all types of wood, in a variety of styles and forms, including furniture, sculptures and reliefs. George designs and sculpts indoor and outdoor decorations, such as water fountains and monuments using wood and cement, but also expresses himself in bronze, stone and fibreglass.
This talented artist who expresses himself in realism, abstracts and surrealism, also paints portraits.
