A double theatrical presentation featuring the plays Dutchman and Sizwe Banzi is DeaD.
Dutchman: Written by Amiri Baraka and starring Matthew Murrell and Amanda Hoyos is an emotionally charged and highly symbolic version of the Adam and Eve story. The explosive play which exposed that the USA is the melting pot where nothing ever melted.
Sizwe Banzi is DeaD-written by Athol Fugard, John Kani & Winston Shona
This play served as the bomb with which black South Africans blew apart the institution of Apartheid. It is a moving and immensely funny expose of life in a country in which the only way a black man could survive was to take on the identity of a dead man.
Starts at 7pm both nights at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, Cave Hill.
