Essay Competition

DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTRIES IS FRIDAY, November 28th, 2008 by 4:00 p.m.

Theme: Coping with the impact of the Cost of Living

Essay Competition Rules:

» Topic: "How Can I Help My Family Reduce The Cost Of Living?"

» Fourth and Fifth Form Secondary School students
» One essay per student
» Essays must be ORIGINAL, in Standard English and between 750 and 1000 words
» Essays must be type written, justified, double spaced on "8 ˝ x 11" paper using the Times New Roman 12 point font format.
» Essays will be judged on creativity, originality, knowledge of subject, spelling and grammatical structure

» 1st prize: One desktop computer
» 2nd prize: One digital camera
» 3rd prize: $300 in educational supplies

Entries should be submitted by the school and addressed: Attn. Essay and Poster Competitions, Mr. Ronny Yearwood, Marketing Officer, Barbados Government Information Service, Bay Street, St. Michael.

Entries must be accompanied by a completed application form.

All entries will remain the property of the Barbados Government Information Service.

Names and photographs of winners may be used in the print and electronic media. Winners will be required to show proof of age.

These competitions were given the approval of the Ministry of Education.
