Barbados Crop Over 2009 Heritage Fairs
Heritage Fairs are new to the Crop Over Calendar 2009. While "celebrating we heritage", Crop Over 2009 will offer you a taste of the past.
There will be lots of activities and a variety of stalls selling plants, crafts, live demonstrations by traditional artisans and traditional Bajan cuisine and confectionery (sugar cakes, turnovers, comforts and old fashioned ice cream). Also exhibitions of Barbadian household and sugar industry artefacts
A designated children's play area will feature storytelling, face painting, a jumping tent, pony rides, and lucky dips and clowns. For the adults there will be a variety of activities including games of chance, stick licking demonstrations and indoor games including warri, as well as fun competitions like climbing the greasy pole.
For everyone, there'll also be a display by the Barbados Landship and sweet tuk band music, guided tours to the Welchman Hall Gully and the Flower Forest and the popular mobile cinema.
If that's not enough, on the main stage will be performances from Pride of Wilson Hill Folk Group, Pan Extreme, folk singer Johnny Koeiman, spoken word artist Adrian Green, calypso monarch Kid Site, Tune of the Crop monarch Grynner, DJ Dove, and St. Thomas' very own Yella.
Patrons are encouraged to come to the Heritage Fair dressed in clothing or costume that depicts 'we heritage'.
