Sidewalk cafés have become increasingly fashionable here in
Barbados, they’ve started popping up all across the island, and it is easy to
see why they have become so popular. What better way to spend an hour or two
here in paradise than to sit on the side of a bustling street, or along a
waterfront, or on a beautiful beach with your tea and biscuits? Try a Panini
with local fruit juice, or coffee and cake and just gaze at the glorious
surroundings, people watch, or just consider the meaning of life.
Our cafés and dessert shops have all sorts of international influence. The
Italian coffees have become very popular recently but the more typical French
sidewalk café, offering delicious pastries and breads remains a favorite. There
are still a few cafés, tea houses and dessert shops that have stayed purely traditional,
sticking to our British roots.
Below, we have created a directory of some of the cafes and dessert shops to be
found on the island. Make sure to take some time out of your holiday to indulge
your sweet tooth and check out one of these hot spots.
