What better way to spend Christmas than lying on a white sandy beach and going for a dip in the calm Caribbean Sea?
Christmas is a special time of year all over the world, and Barbados is no exception. Complete with Christmas carols, extra special food, present giving and celebrations in Church.
The really great part of Christmas in Barbados is that the temperature drops to around 28 degrees, with cool breezes blowing making it perfect weather for the beach.
In Barbados, you can escape the madness of packed shopping malls and relax taking part in as many or as little Christmas activities as you please.
For Barbados the official winter season begins on December 15th, so you will see an increase in the hotel and flight rates for the Christmas period so you need to book early to avoid disappointment.
One of the highlights in the calendar of events for the Island is to attend "Carols by Candlelight' held at Illaro Court, the official residence of Owen Arthur, Prime Minister of Barbados.
'Carols by Candlelight', will be held on December 16th, 2007 from 5pm. Tickets are available from Starcom Network, River Road, St. Michael are priced at $20 for one adult, this includes the admission of 2 children under 12 as well.
Many Barbadian families and visitors to the island attend this event. The audience hold the candles and are treated to various musicians performing some of the classic Christmas carols. Like many other countries Barbados has traditional food that is prepared for the Christmas day feast, which includes roast turkey and a honey glazed picnic ham served with golden apple sauce, Bajan stuffing, sweet potato pie, rice and peas, jug jug and vegetables.

Barbados is a very religious country and with so many churches of all nominations on the island, you will find lots of services to attend over the Christmas holidays.

So however you want to spend Christmas, whether it is sitting down to a full Christmas dinner at one of the island's grand hotels or having a BBQ on the beach, either way your Christmas is Barbados will be one to remember.
