Tyrol Cot is located in the parish of St. Michael on the south coast of Barbados.
Tyrol Cot was built in 1854 and was home to Sir Grantley Adams, the first premier of Barbados who is featured on the Barbadian $100 note. His son, Tom Adams, who also went on to be Prime Minister of Barbados was born here.
The house is filled with antiques and has been at the centre of Barbadian politics over the last 50 years. Within the 4 acres of grounds you will find the Tyrol Cot Heritage Centre, which gives detailed accounts of the lives and works of both Sir Grantley and his son Tom. Also within the grounds is the Chattel House Village where you will find the work of local craftsmen and artists.
Tyrol Cot is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10am until 5.0pm.
