The parish of St. Peter is located on the west coast of Barbados and stretches across to the east coast in the north of the island. It is the last parish before you get to St. Lucy - the most northern parish in Barbados.
The parish of St. Peter stretches both to the west and east of Barbados where there are a number of tourist attractions and some interesting sights and places to visit.
The parish of St. Peter starts at Mullins Bay on the west to just above Six Men's Bay, and from Cherry Tree Hill on the east to St. Nicholas Abbey.
St. Peter is home to the second largest town in Barbados and that is Speightstown. These days Speightstown is quite quiet however it used to be a very busy port and a ferry used to run back and forth to Bridgetown, which took 45 minutes, probably quicker than you can drive today given the traffic.

If you are interested in religious and historical buildings then you will find St. Peter's Parish Church, which was built in the 1630's making it one of the oldest churches in Barbados, in this parish you will also find All Saint's Church.
There are some great hotels and resorts in this parish and if you want to enjoy a day at the beach then you can go to Heywoods, Mullins or the beaches outside Almond Beach Village, Sandridge Beach, Cobbler's Cove, or the Sugar Cane Club resorts.
Keeping on the west coast you will also find Port St. Charles, which is a luxury development of apartments and town houses with bar & restaurant facilities and fine dining at La Mer.
Making your way over to the east coast within this parish will bring you to the old St. Nicholas Abbey plantation house, which is open to the public. This wonderful old house was built in 1650 and is one of the last few remaining Jacobean properties in the western hemisphere. Surrounding St. Nicholas Abbey is the area known as Cherry Tree Hill, which commands the most stunning and dramatic view of the crashing Atlantic Ocean on the east coast; this view is simply breath taking!
