Consett Bay is located on the east coast of Barbados, in the parish of St. John. This is quite a lively bay with lots of fishing boats and activity.

Things to Do

The water here isn’t as pretty as other parts of the island and the sea is quite choppy, so swimming is not advised. There is a pretty fishing village in Consett Bay that sells fresh fish to the public.

Driving Directions

From Grantley Adams International Airport, head north following the signs for Sam Lord’s Castle. The road bends to the right and is signposted Sam Lord’s, follow the road right, then the road bends left, and is signposted The Crane. Follow the road past Budget Supermarket, where you may wish to stop and pick up picnic supplies, and then go past St. Martin’s Church. Go past Foul Bay on your right, go past The Crane Hotel on your right, when you come to a small roundabout, turn left, then turn right where you see the sign post which says ‘Long Bay via Sam Lord’s.

Continue down this road and take the last left turn, go all the way to the end and then turn right, on your right you will see a road called ‘Eastbourne‘, as you approach the bend in the road, turn right after the bend where you will see the Wishing Well bar, go straight to the end of this road and you will find Bottom Bay on your right.

Three Houses is signposted from here. After you have past through the parkland of Three Houses you will need to turn right at the junction, then take the second right sign posted Fortesque and Codrington College, then turn left signposted Bathsheba. Shortly up this road you will see a sign on right saying Consett Bay.

This road should really only be attempted in a 4×4 as there are Tamarind trees growing over this already very narrow road! If you can make it down, it takes about 20 minutes as you have to drive very slowly through this heavy woodland. On the way down there is a waterfall on your right and a stream, here is a good place to get out and listen to the birds.

When you reach the bottom you will see the very pretty fishing village of Consett Bay.
