Take A Dip At Dover Beach

Barbados has many fine beaches with unique attractions that suit your holiday wants and needs.

Dover Beach, located in Christ Church on the south coast of Barbados, is a hive of activity and attracts visitors from all over the world looking to be close to all the island action.

Barbados’s south coast is renowned for being the liveliest coast on the island, with many offers. Not only is there great diving and excellent waves for wind and kite surfing, but there’s also a bustling nightlife, great restaurants, and a broad range of accommodation styles for you to choose from.

Because Dover is located within a tourist hub, you’ll be close to amenities like convenience stores, tour operators, water sports activities, and souvenir shopping, to name a few.

Note: Rest assured, it’s not all action stations here; you can still visit Dover and have a relaxing and rejuvenating experience – it’s all up to you!

Dover Beach – A Smorgasbord Of Activities

In Dover, Dover Beach is conveniently located in the middle of the infamous St. Lawrence Gap (‘the Gap’). The Gap is one of the island’s most renowned nightlife hot spots for locals and visitors alike.

Because of the high density of restaurants and accommodation available in this area, Dover Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the south coast.

Famous for sunbaking (there are plenty of shorelines), swimming (the waters are relatively calm), and water sports like windsurfing and jet skiing, this action-packed beach also has local vendors selling art and craft, beach volleyball, a children’s play park, beach chair, and umbrella rentals, and so much more.

It’s worth noting that Dover Beach has a lifeguard on duty, shower and toilet facilities, and a little shopping village selling souvenirs, beach essentials, drinks, and snacks.

The beach is opposite a large pasture and Dover playing field, so why not take in a local cricket or football match while you’re there and get a taste of life on the island?

Caution: Watch out for the Manchineel Tree and its fruits, especially when it’s raining, as the liquid from the tree is poisonous and causes skin blistering.

The tree has shiny green leaves, the fruit is small, and an apple-shaped -a red band usually marks these trees.

December 21, 2020 – White Sands Beach

I’m not sure why I had this video unlisted; however, that has now been rectified so I can share the lovely White Sands Beach with you.

Driving Directions

If you are coming from Bridgetown, head along the south coast road towards Oistins.

Follow this road straight along until you see the sign saying ‘St. Lawrence Gap’, on your right-hand side.

Turn right into the Gap and go all the way to the end.

When you reach ‘Escape at the Gap,’ you’ll see the Dover Beach Facility car park on your right.

Tip: If driving isn’t an option, we suggest catching the number 11 ZR Van marked ‘to Silver Sands’ from the ‘van stand’ in Bridgetown.

This van takes you along the south coast road, and you can ask the driver to put you off at the Gap and walk down to Dover Beach from there.
