Where to Shop at, in Barbados?

Barbados has a variety of shopping malls and locations to satisfy any shopaholic. From shopping malls and duty-free stores to boutiques, souvenir shops, markets, street vendors, and even quaint chattel house villages selling local arts and crafts, Barbados offers shoppers the complete package, with many shopping malls and locations.

Broad Street, Bridgetown

The nation’s capital of Bridgetown is one of the central shopping districts on the island. From local to international fare, banking facilities, crystal and jewelry, duty-free shopping, pharmacies, shoe stores, and so much more, a trip to Bridgetown is a must on any shoppers list!

The main street for shopping is Broad Street, where you can get duty free items, designer brands, and local fashions, amongst other things. Broad Street is also home to one of the Cave Shepherd stores stocking duty-free perfume and cosmetics, cameras and electronics, liquor, cigars, holiday apparel, local music, and souvenirs.

Along Broad Street, there are several top quality jewellers to choose from – Diamonds International, Colombian Emeralds International, Little Switzerland Barbados, and The Royal Shop.

Coconut WalkHeading out of Bridgetown, on the south coast main road, is Coconut Walk. This shopping area has some boutiques and shops selling clothing, jewelry, homewares, and surfwear.

Quayside Centre

After Coconut Walk, you’ll arrive at Quayside Centre (close to Accra Beach) with some souvenir shops and fashions for sale. There are also dining options within the complex, as well as a convenience store and health food store.

St. Lawrence Gap (the ‘Gap’)

St. Lawrence Gap (the ‘Gap’) is home to an array of street vendors selling things like leather goods, sarongs, and handmade jewelry. There’s also the Chattel House Village within the Gap, with several stores selling all manner of local souvenirs.

Sheraton Centre Mall

Sheraton Centre is a busy mall located just off the ABC Highway in Christ Church. It houses over 120 stores and services in one location, including duty-free shopping, men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, electrical items, homewares, a cinema, food court, banking services, spa, and salon. The mall also offers a daily shuttle service along the south coast.

Sky Mall

Further inland along the Highway (at the Bussa Roundabout) is Sky Mall. A large Massy supermarket and food court are available, alongside stores selling ladies and men’s fashions, shoes and accessories, jewelry, electrical goods, and a health food shop.

The Crane Village

Towards the south-east of the island is The Crane Village.

The Village is open to both locals and visitors, offering a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment options, including extensive duty-free shopping in the ‘Duty-Free Emporium.’ Every Wednesday afternoon, The Crane Village also transforms into an open-air market (Village Fair) featuring local arts and crafts, jewelry, and traditional delicacies.

Limegrove Lifestyle Centre

Right in the heart of Holetown, Limegrove Lifestyle Centre offers shoppers some of the world’s leading luxury brands, as well as leisure and entertainment facilities like restaurants, cafés, bars, a cinema, art gallery, and spa.

Some of the following international designer brands are available at Limegrove at duty-free prices – Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Armani Exchange, Breitling, Burberry, Michael Kors, Longchamp, Montblanc, Chopard, MAC cosmetics, and Apple.

Limegrove also houses top-quality jewellers like Diamonds International and Colombian Emeralds International and hosts a regular events programme including art shows, culinary events, live entertainment, and cultural displays.

West Mall Shopping Centre

Also, in Holetown, West Mall houses an excellent range of duty-free stores and boutiques, including Totally Barbados’ recommended luxury jewellers Diamonds International and Little Switzerland.

There are also banking services, a coffee shop and art gallery, a Massy supermarket, children’s wear, swimwear, local crafts, and a Cave Shepherd store. And, there’s ample free parking, both outside the mall and behind the supermarket.

Sunset Mall (Sunset Crest Shopping Mall)

Another Holetown shopping destination, here you’ll find Colombian Emeralds International and Cave Shepherd’s leading west coast store.

There’s also banking facilities, a travel agent, clothing and gift shops, and even a Coffee Bean outlet.

The Chattel Village

This picturesque Holetown shopping village is made up of traditional chattel houses transformed into shopping boutiques. Here, you will find an exciting mix of holiday apparel and fashions, gourmet food, handcrafted jewelry, local souvenirs, and a café.

Best of Barbados Gift Shops

One of the best places to pick up authentic Bajan souvenirs is at Best of Barbados Gift Shops.

Best of Barbados is a family-owned business that has been making and designing top-quality local gifts and handicrafts on the island for over 40 years. Here, you’ll find a large variety of Bajan-made souvenirs, ranging from prints and designs by the company’s founder (artist Jill Walker) and her family, to jewelry, art, paintings, cookbooks, beach bags, towels, T-shirts, music, and DVDs.

You’ll find their stores in five convenient locations – The Chattel Village in Holetown, Quayside Centre in Rockley, Southern Palms Hotel in St. Lawrence Gap, Bridgetown Cruise Terminal, and in the Departure Lounge at Grantley Adams International Airport.

Earthworks Pottery

Earthworks Pottery was established in Barbados in 1983 in central St. Thomas and specializes in unique red clay ceramic pieces, all hand-finished and decorated with their signature bright colours. Earthworks offer everything from tableware to lamps, tiles, and vases, and will even create personalized pieces upon request.

You can also tour the pottery at work and enjoy the On the Wall Gallery showcasing some of the best local artists on the island, and their Arthouse Café.

Chalky Mount Potteries

The area of Chalky Mount in St. Andrew has been home to potters for hundreds of years. Today, you’ll find generations of potters selling unique handmade items at competitive prices. Watch the potters hard at work shaping and designing the local clay, and pick up anything from mugs, plates, cookware, vases, and plant pots.

Grantley Adams International Airport

Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) offers a range of shopping options (especially duty-free) for travellers.

GAIA is home to outlets of both Diamonds International and Colombian Emeralds International, as well as one of the Best of Barbados Gift Shops.

There is a variety of fashions, crafts, and souvenir stores within GAIA, as well as a Cave Shepherd store in the Arrivals Terminal. For more information, see our Airport Shopping guide.

Bridgetown Cruise Terminal

The Bridgetown Cruise Terminal has plenty of shopping (mainly duty-free) for anyone who takes a cruise to Barbados.

Among the more notable retailers are Diamonds International, Little Switzerland, and Best of Barbados Gift Shops.

Pelican Village Craft Centre

Just outside the Bridgetown cruise terminal is the Pelican Village Craft Centre. Stroll around the retail shops and gallery, and purchase anything from woven baskets, paintings, photography, wood carvings, leathercraft, and pottery, all made and designed by local and regional artisans.
