Barbados Fishing Charters

Whether you are a seasoned fisherman or a complete novice Barbados has a fishing charter to suit you!

There are many options when it comes to fishing, being an island every few miles you will find another fish market dotted along our coast line, and in every fish market there are lots of fishing boats working on a daily basis.

If you want a real taste of tradition then you can organise a day trip with a fisherman, the boats vary in size and if you haven’t been fishing before then a larger boat is a better option. The sea can be rough in places, and the motion of the boat can make even the most accomplished of sailors queasy!

Most fishing charters include hotel pick up, refreshments (usually water, soft drinks, Bajan bar – beer and rum) and snacks whilst on board, bait, fishing lines and they usually last about 4 hours. Most leave port by 8am to ensure you are back in for 12 noon when the sun is at it’s hottest.

If you choose to go out with a fisherman, they usually charge $75USD per person. Also you need to establish if you would like to keep any fish that you catch, most fisherman are happy to clean one of your caught fish and you can usually arrange with your hotel to have them cook it for you. It is usual for the fisherman to keep the majority of the catch, and that is why it is a cheaper option to go with the fisherman.

The other option is to go game fishing; these are much larger boats and are geared specifically for fishing as a sport, with seat, harnesses and fishing rods. Most of these game boats will collect from your hotel, again leave port early in the morning, they provide refreshments (usually water, soft drinks, Bajan bar – beer and rum), they provide the bait and fishing rods and again last about 4 hours. These types of cruises are suited to all and you don’t need to worry too much about the seasickness. Game fishing boats charge around $150USD per person.

Whichever option you choose a day out fishing in the waters of Barbados is sure to delight as fish are plentiful and you are bound to catch!
