Get Around Barbados on Two Wheels

Experience Barbados on two wheels by renting a scooter, bicycle, motorcycle, or Segway machine!

Scooter rentals are fast becoming a popular way to get around Barbados and are a unique alternative to traditional car rentals. These exciting ways to travel (on two wheels) give you the freedom and independence to go anywhere in Barbados, with fewer traffic and car parking hassles.

Whether looking for adventure, history, or culture, this is one way to see it all at your own pace.

Year after year, Barbados consistently ranks as one of the top travel destinations in the world. There are various sites to see and things to do in Barbados to experience all it offers fully.

Guided or Self-Guided Tours?

You have several options for getting around Barbados on two wheels. You can rent one of these vehicles by yourself (your self-guided tour) daily, weekly, or long-term. Or you can also take a guided tour around the island on scooters, motorcycles, Segways, mountain bikes, and even dirt bikes. The many tour options include (but are not limited to):

— Coastline tours
— Cross-country trails
— Off-road Motocross safaris
— Heritage tours
— Nature tours

Requirements

There are a couple of general conditions – you must provide a valid motorcycle or driver’s license (not for bicycle rental). You only need to purchase a temporary ‘visitors permit’ for USD 5. Apply for a Barbados Visitors Driver Permit. For all modes of transport, you also sign a ‘rental agreement’ and provide a security deposit, which is refunded at the end of the rental period, providing no damage to the vehicle.

Segway Rentals

Segway Barbados offers both Segway rentals and guided tours around Barbados. There are various short-term and long-term Segway rental options for birthday parties and private locations, as well as ‘mobile advertising’ and event security patrol. They also offer a 1 ½ hour off-road adventure tour with Segway training.

Remember: It is illegal to ride a Segway on public roads.

How much does it cost?

Rentals

Rentals’ prices depend on the vehicle’s power and whether it is a semi-automatic or automatic transmission. Two-wheel modes of transportation, such as scooters and motorcycles, are available to rent in Barbados. Prices range from 110cc – 150cc. However, there are some 200cc available to ride.

The average rental price for scooters and motorcycles is approximately USD 55 per day, but prices can range from USD 45 to USD 85 per day. On the other hand, bicycle rentals vary from USD 8.50 per day to USD 20 per day.

Note: You can negotiate a weekly rental price. Each two-wheel rental operator has set prices, but you can get a weekly scooter and motorcycle rental for around USD 275. Weekly bicycle rentals range from USD 32 to USD 50.

Tours

Tour prices depend on the type of vehicle (power, transmission, single-seater or double-seater), the kind of trip (length, destination, and what’s included), and whether you are touring as part of a private group tour. Prices range from USD 130 – $150 per person for a full-day tour (generally 6 hours), USD 65 – 160 per person for a 3-hour to 4-hour tour, and USD 120 – $250 per person for private tours.

Segway Prices

Segway Barbados offers Segway hire for birthday parties for BBD 45 per Segway per hour (minimum 3 hours). Private rentals are available for BBD 200 per day, and tours are priced at BBD 150 per person, BBD 130 per person for group tours of 6-12 people, and BBD 180 per person for private tours.
