We have highlighted some of things that you may like to do and there are related articles at the bottom of this page giving more detail on certain activities.
No matter what time of year you choose to come to Barbados, you will enjoy year round sunshine, white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, which forces you to unwind and relax.
You probably don't need to read an article on how to relax, but we have suggested some of the ways in which you might get the most out of a restful vacation in Barbados.
Have you ever thought of having Christmas dinner on the beach? Well, Barbados is the place to celebrate Christmas in the warm sunshine.
If you are coming to Barbados with your family then just lazing in the sun probably isn't an option, but there are plenty of things to do both on land and in the water to keep the children amused and give you memories to treasure of your time on the island.
Barbados caters to all ages and we have made some suggestions of places to go and things to do in order to keep everyone entertained.
If you like sport and are looking for an action holiday, then check out the sections within Totally Barbados on windsurfing, kite surfing and surfing. Barbados experiences some of the best conditions for all three of these highly competitive sports and has produced some Barbadian world champions.
There are also plenty of equestrian centres if you would like to go horse riding through sugar cane fields or on the white sandy beaches. If you prefer your sport at a slower pace then read about golfing holidays and the great choice of fishing trips available to you, as an entire holiday or just for the day.
If you prefer to be a spectator then you could have a day out horse racing at The Garrison Savannah or Polo at one of the many fields throughout Barbados.
The whole Garrison area is very historic dating back to the 1600's, so if you are interested in the history of Barbados, then please read our A-Z of historical places to visit during your stay.
If you are looking for a lively holiday then Barbados comes alive at night in certain areas such as St. Lawrence Gap on the south coast. There are rum shops dotted all over the island and a visit to at least one is a must when visiting Barbados.
Along the south coast main road there are lots of bars and nightclubs to enjoy, and on the west coast there are some really nice places to enjoy a cocktail looking out to the calm Caribbean Sea.
If you want to party then read our nightlife section to find out where the best party spots are located for you to dance the night away under the stars.
There are also some world famous restaurants on both the south and west coasts of Barbados, so no matter what type of holiday you are looking for make sure it involves at least one night eating out at one of these fantastic restaurants. Please see our restaurant guide for further information.
If your trip to Barbados is business, then please see our business section to find out what facilities are available to the business traveller and learn more about Barbados Business.
Finally you may just be passing through Barbados on one of the many cruise ships that dock in Bridgetown, if so then check out our Shore Excursions for recommendations to ensure you get the most out of Barbados in a short time.
Barbados really does have something for everyone, whether you are just looking for peace and tranquillity, or you want an action packed sporting adventure, either way Barbados can balance both and offer the young and old a fantastic vacation.
