Parish of St. Andrew

St. Andrew is located on the east coast of Barbados and is where you will find Mount Hillaby and the area known as the Scotland District as it resembles the landscape of Scotland.

The coastline in St. Andrew is quite flat as the land just beyond is all hills sweeping down to the miles of white sandy beaches. This area is ideal for beach combing especially if you start at Walkers Beach, which goes on in to Lakes Beach and then eventually in to Morgan Lewis Beach.

Other places of interest in St. Andrew are the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, where you can see turtles and green monkeys.

St. Andrew is also home to Farley Hill National Park, where you will find the remains of one of the greatest mansions that was ever built in Barbados. It was the location for the infamous 1950’s film ‘Island in the Sun.’ Nowadays the park is used for festivals such as Jazz on the Hill and Reggae on the Hill. Another interesting place to visit while you are touring this parish is Chalky Mount Potteries, where you can buy gifts to take home.

The only Anglican Church to visit in this area is St. Andrew’s Parish Church, which is just in land from Walker’s Beach.
