If renting your own car whilst here isn't exactly your thing, our public transport system is a great option. We have a regular bus system which services all parts of the island on a fairly regular schedule, but you may want to allow for "island time".
Our buses cannot be missed as they are brightly painted in the national colours of blue and yellow and offering one of the best methods of transportation in Barbados. Most buses have a sign of some sort on or above the front glass indicating the furthest point they travel in the direction they are heading and the drivers will readily tell you whether your stop is along their route or not.
These buses are government owned and operated and the fair is a $1.50 each way for adults or $1.00 for school children. These buses run from as early as 6:00am, to as late as midnight.
These buses are very roomy and comfortable and provide you with a relaxed atmosphere in which you can sit back, relax, and take in the sights and sounds of Barbados while in route to your next adventure.
We also have mini buses which are a bit smaller than the transport board buses and are painted bright yellow with a blue stripe. The final destination of these buses is usually displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the windshield and you should really check it out because these buses are privately owned and therefore only travel select routes. Sometimes the drivers and conductors overload these buses however, to be able to make more money. The fare for these buses is the same $1.50 as the transport board buses.
