Henry Forde Roundabout

Noted leader of the Barbados Labour Party.

Sir Henry Forde was born on March 20th, 1933 and was educated at:

• — Christ Church Boy’s School
• — Boy’s Foundation School
• — Harrison College (Barbados Scholar 1952)
• — Christ College Cambridge University (M.A., LL. B),
• — Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple),
• — Queen’s Counsel.

This noted gentleman became a Member of Parliament in 1971 and made outstanding contributions to the Barbadian Society.

Over the years he has held the honourable positions of: Opposition Leader and Chairman of the Barbados Labour Party (1981) ,Minister of External Affairs , Attorney General Minister of Legal Affairs.

Known as the advocate for Women’s Rights, Sir Henry Forde successfully proposed the establishment of a National Commission on the Status of Women. His attributes include but are not limited to – the invaluable role he played as Chairman of the Constitution Commission. In 1993 Sir Henry Forde relinquished his position as the Opposition Leader of the Barbados Labour Party due to ill health.

Following his resignation, Sir Henry continues to offer his service on the ‘backbench’ of the House of Assembly. His insight and comments are held in the highest regard amongst those of his constituency and that of the general Barbadian public.In 1993 Sir Henry Forde relinquished his position as the Opposition Leader of the Barbados Labour Party due to ill health.
