Barbados Beach Cottages
If you want the independence of self-catering and are traveling in a group then a great option is to rent a beach cottage. You have the beauty of your location enjoying a morning dip in the ocean along with the beauty of the price!
You can rent a beach cottage that sleeps between 4-6 people for as little as $100US per day, meaning a cost of only $25US per person, which is exceptional value.
The majority of beach cottages come with double bedrooms, which sleep 2 people, 2 bathrooms, lounge/dining area, fully fitted kitchens with all equipment such as washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer. You can enjoy gardens and patio’s not to mention the ‘on your doorstep’ white powdery beaches and turquoise sea!
Air-conditioning, iron, hairdryer and linens and a weekly maid service are all included in the price.
The other side of a beach cottage is that you will not get a swimming pool nor the company of other tourists as you would in a hotel, but both of these are outweighed as you can swim in the ocean and have a great holiday with your friends for company.
Beach cottages are available to rent all over Barbados on each coast, if you choose the west coast, the water here is very calm and you can enjoy 8 miles of gold coast, however this is quieter for things to do in the evening. There are plenty of restaurants on the west coast and is ideal if you just want to relax.
If you choose the south coast, the water is rougher but ideal for water sports and has the added bonus of a bustling nightlife, a choice of supermarkets and some excellent restaurants.
There are also some very quaint beach cottages to rent on the east coast, this side of the island is not ideal for swimming but is ideal if you like to surf, as you will find the surfing at ‘Soup Bowl’ in Bathsheba one of the best spots in the world. Here the International Pro Surfing Competition is held in November.
The east coast has a very dramatic beauty and if you are looking for total relaxation and peace and quiet then this coast is the one for you.
