Fustic House

Fustic House is located in the parish of St. Lucy and this old world plantation house is now a luxury retreat for the rich and famous.

Described by the Barbados National Trust as ‘one of the treasures of Barbados’, and featured on the BBC and Discovery Channel, Fustic House was recently purchased in December 2004 by the current owners – the Gordon’s.

Fustic House is an 11 acre private estate located on a coral ridge overlooking the Caribbean sea, dating back to 17th Century.

Located on the West coast of Barbados, just north of Speightstown and Port St Charles, it is the largest private estate that is available for rent on Barbados, with more free space than Sandy Lane Hotel (>1 acre/guest).

It is the only plantation house on the coast, and virtually paparazzi-proof.

The property sits on a ridge near Speightstown on the west coast, Fustic House has views to the Caribbean sea and is close to both Maycocks Bay and Six Mens Bay.

The House has 6 air conditioned, luxurious double suites – two in each of the three, separate coral stone wings, thereby offering the choice of companionship or privacy.

It has 14 full time staff (including Kenroy Hunte, reputed to be the best chef on the island), a Lagoon Pool and Sun Deck (over the Tropical Ravine), 1000m2 (10 000ft2) Lotus lake, Water Garden, Mahogany Park, Arawak Cave System, Orchid Walk and access to a quiet, sandy beach 2-3 minutes walk away, where a diving platform is being installed.

A gardener’s paradise, it is the frequent home to Barbados Green Monkeys, Egrets, Humming Birds, Fireflies and a wide variety of other safe fauna.

The Estate has a small revolutionary speedboat, the Zippa, and house guests have membership of the exclusive Port St. Charles Club, a 5 minute drive away, with restaurant, pool, bar, showers, sun decks and beaches.

Fustic has satellite TV, high speed wireless Internet, Bose stereo systems and worldwide direct-dial telephony/fax.

Guests can be met before Immigration at the airport and transferred to Fustic by Bentley or helicopter (to Port St Charles). Children are welcome.

Fustic’s full-time Manager, can organize just about anything from golf to tennis to swimming with turtles, fishing, diving, snorkeling or day trips to the Grenadines, Dominica and other nearby islands.

The estate is available for rent, as a single property, between November and June each year.
