Barbados Shopping


Shop in Barbados for unique arts and crafts at the various shopping malls and locations to choose from during your stay in Barbados.

Barbados is renowned for duty free shopping on designer goods. So if you are looking to buy a special gift such as jewelry, then you can make significant savings by making your purchase while shopping in Barbados at duty free discounts.

Please note when buying duty free goods in Barbados you will need to present your passport and details of your address in Barbados to qualify for the duty free price. Also note that all alcohol and tobacco purchases made outside of the airport or port will not be handed over the counter but delivered straight to your port of departure for collection when you leave the island.

Broad Street in Bridgetown, the capital city of Barbados is lined with local and international banks as well as duty free shops where you can find many designer brands on sale.

If you want to buy ornaments, crystal, fine figurines then you will find these items on sale in The Royal Shop, Cave Shepherd or Little Switzerland, here you will find brands such a Lladro and Swarovski.

Maybe you are getting married while you are in Barbados, or maybe the trip is to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, in which case then why not purchase that special piece of jewelry at a great duty free price?

In Broad Street you will find branches of Diamonds International and Colombian Emeralds International. In both of these stores you will find precious gems which can be made to order in your desired piece or you will find a vast array of rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces already made in beautiful settings. They also carry an extensive range of designer watches and pens such a Breitling and Tag Heuer.

The Royal Shop in Barbados is the only exclusive authorized Rolex dealer on the island of Barbados with locations on Broad street and the Barbados Cruise Terminal.

If you do have something to celebrate while you are here, then you may also be looking for something special to wear. For the ladies you will find a bridal department in Cave Shepherd and there are also a few shops on Broad Street that specialize in bridal wear both traditional and non-traditional for that beach wedding. For the men you will find the latest in fashion at The Bionic Shop.

If you need to purchase electrical equipment, then you will also find these at duty free prices on Broad Street. Just be aware that the majority of these goods would have come from the USA therefore depending on which country you are from, you may need to buy an adapter to ensure that these goods work in your home country.

For gifts to take home or souvenirs of your holiday in Barbados then you have to head to the Pelican Craft Centre, located just next to the Bridgetown Port. Here you will find a number of shops selling hand crafted goods and you can also see the workmen in their studios creating goods in leather and clay. The Pelican Craft Centre is a lovely place to stroll around and you can pick up some really unique pieces for a bargain at a great price.

Although not located in Bridgetown, another great place for pottery is Earthworks located in St. Thomas. Their style is very Caribbean in bold colors and unusual design. Here you can also see the potter at his wheel making the items from sinks to plates. They also specialize in getting these items back to your home safely so don't worry about your goods getting broken, this family run business has been shipping goods around the world for years.

While on your way out of Bridgetown, be sure to visit Welches Plantation and the Best of Barbados Gift Shops. You can find authentic Caribbean designs, locally made handicrafts and a vast array of souvenirs from Barbados.

Shopping on the South Coast of Barbados

On the south coast of Barbados you will find a number of shopping centres to run your errands and to choose from.

Sheraton Centre in the parish of Christ Church is one of the larger malls with shops selling all sorts of goods from clothes and shoes through to electronics and children's toys. Also located at Sheraton Centre is the Barbados Olympus Theatres where you can find all of the latest movies showing on six (6) cinema screens. Be sure to visit the Totally Barbados Movie Guide for showtimes at the Globe Drive-In, Olympus Theatres or Limegrove Cinemas.

On the south coast main road, you will find Quayside Centre, opposite Accra Beach Hotel and Spa. Here you will find a buzz of restaurants, an ice-cream parlor, souvenir shops, dress shops, a health store and an open 'til late supermarket'.

There is also a smaller branch of Cave Shepherd on the south coast main road at the traffic lights at Worthing. Here you can buy clothes, beachwear, cosmetics, fragrances, jewelry and electronics all at duty free prices.

Located within St. Lawrence Gap you can find the Chattel House Village, a Best of Barbados Gift Shop and a few other small boutiques. Visit one of the local vendor shops at Dover and experience the cool and calming atmosphere while walking in-between the restaurants and Dover Beach.

Shopping on the West Coast of Barbados

The best place for shopping on the west coast of Barbados is in Holetown, where you will find the West Mall shopping centre and the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre. You will also find jewelry, clothing and electronic goods for sale at duty free prices .

Pure Source, specializes in designer goods and all natural beauty products and cosmetics. They sell brands such as Cutler and Gross sunglasses at duty free prices along with products such as Black Up, Phyto hair products, Erbaviva baby range and Ole Henriekson body range. Many of these products come from Paris and are very difficult to get hold of in London and New York, so why not indulge yourself while staying in Barbados.

There is also the quaint Chattel Village located in the heart of Holetown on the west coast of Barbados. You will find a nice mix of holiday apparel, a Best of Barbados Gift Shop as well as gourmet food and a café to relax in a garden, in between the shops.

Depending on your port of entry into Barbados, there is also shopping at the airport as well as shopping at the Bridgetown Cruise Terminal.

Whatever your shopping requirements are in Barbados there is a store selling high quality goods at a great price, so bring some extra money for shopping and treat yourself in Barbados.
