Rihanna Barbados Loud Concert

As the electric blue globe opened and the Barbadian princess of pop, Rihanna, emerged onto stage, it summed her up totally - the world is her oyster and she is the beautiful pearl that dazzles.

With a roaring sell-out crowd cheering her on, Rihanna launched her homecoming show with "Only Girl (In The World)" continuing her statement that right now she has the world in the palm of her hand.

Being the fourth artist to break through 1 billion views on YouTube, and currently placed third in the all time most played list, she is clearly doing something right. And the show continued in the same meteoric rise as she played through her set with breathtaking panache. For a young woman of only 23, she showed a maturity and confidence that kept the crowd wanting more.

Changing into a sexy glittery bikini, the stage was then brought to life for the third song "Shut up and Drive" where a car was brought on and the guitarist leapt on the bonnet to play out an incredible guitar solo.

As police sirens started up at the end of the song and the lights dimmed, the crowd cheered as Rihanna quickly dropped straight into "Man Down". The homecoming crowd were warming up now and sang along with her as she perched on the bumper, effortlessly building the show's momentum.

Turning up the volume another notch Rihanna made sure that the sold-out Kensington Oval had all the songs they wanted and the crowd went wild when she re-appeared tied up to play "S&M".

By now, Rihanna could do no wrong and she appeared looking stunning in a full length beautiful yellow dress cut at the right hip, with blue stage lights surrounding her for "California King Bed". Embracing the colours of her home country Barbados, the crowd rewarded her with rapturous cheers and singing along with her.

As she bounced through "Rude Boy" and "Don't Stop The Music", Rihanna leapt down to work the crowd before returning on stage with a Bajan flag. She took a quick pause to address her crowd, and her nation, and thank them for all their support. She quipped how amazing it was that she used to sing in the shower and now she was back with a full-on concert singing for her country!

Rihanna's performance was a complete success and it elevated her status amongst her supporters to new levels, not just because during her encore she and her pianist were raised up over the stage on a floating platform.

As the confetti rained down over the ecstatic crowd, and Rihanna's guitarist once again played out an immense guitar solo to finish "Umbrella", the Kensington Oval screamed and whooped their admiration for their hometown girl.

Well done Rihanna on a Loud and fantastic homecoming show - you've done Barbados proud.
