Argentina take lead on second day of 2006 Barbados World Golf Championships

Argentina takes the lead on the second day of the 2006 Barbados World Golf Championships.

Angel Cabrera and Andres Romero of Argentina continued from where they left off yesterday, finishing the second day of the 2006 World Golf Championships – Barbados World Cup, in the lead on eleven under par, leading Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren of Scotland, and Henrick Stenson and Carl Pettersson of Sweden, by three shots.

Weather conditions were much more favorable today, with the sun shining most of the day. However, with the winds continuing to blow, plus the format of Foursomes (alternate shots), players found it difficult to shoot low scores. As many as six teams finished over par.

Spain and South Africa are still in contention, four of the leaders. England is five off the lead with six under par.

There is one team at six off the lead. Two teams are seven of the leader, on four under par, while the United States of America is now at three-under-par and needs to improve if they are to get a major part of the $4 million purses.

Four teams, including the defending champions Wales, are on two under par, nine shots off the lead.
Three teams are locked at one under, while four teams are one over par, including Trinidad & Tobago.

The Barbados team did not have a good day in this game format, finishing on three over par. The local crowd will be hoping they improve tomorrow when the form returns to Four-ball (better-ball).

The final team finished on six-over-par.

Starting times at the 7069 yard Country Club Course, Sandy Lane Resort, St. James, designed by Tom Fazio, and opened in 2001, starts from 8:10 a.m.to 10.00 a.m.
