7 Year Anniversary of Totally Barbados

7 Year Anniversary of Totally Barbados

September 1st, 2012 marked the seven (7) year anniversary for the local Barbadian company Totally Barbados / Brecal Inc. of promoting the Caribbean vacation destination and island of Barbados.

The brainchild of Totally Barbados is 37-year-old (2012) Brett Callaghan, a famous former jockey Brett Callaghan, from the Garrison Savannah racetrack in Barbados and at Woodbine racetrack in Toronto.

Brett retired from the horse racing game at 24 yrs and returned to school in Toronto to study and earn his certificate as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Upon receiving this certificate, Brett worked at CIBC Mortgages Inc. in Toronto for the next six years.

Brett quit his job as a Senior Technical Analyst with CIBC Mortgages in Toronto, Canada in March 2005 to return to his birthplace, Barbados to embark on this “Totally” new venture. This website was to be “totally” about Barbados.

Brett envisioned creating a website covering every topic, angle, and every aspect of anything anyone would want to know about Barbados.

Even with the existing websites covering various topics about Barbados, Brett thought it vital to encompass all aspects of Barbadian life.

It would appeal to visitors as a guide to Barbados, allowing them to book their vacations, accommodation, restaurants, and attractions.

Totally Barbados would also appeal to the local Barbadians who want to keep abreast of what’s going on and things to do in Barbados while being the definitive locals guide to Barbados.

The latest information on Barbados is available to you on topics from cultural events, tourist attractions, real estate developments, investment opportunities, and local news headlines.

Totally Barbados even includes features such as the local time, weather, a monthly newsletter, restaurant profiles, and sample menus and upcoming social events.

When asked about his most significant life challenges, Brett said “I was a jockey at the Garrison Savannah in Barbados from 1989 – 1993, and on January 11th, 1992 after finishing 3rd in a race, the horse (while running) fainted and fell, throwing me to the ground. I suffered a brain injury and was in a coma for two weeks.”

“After that, one of the biggest challenges I had was to get back in the saddle again, which I managed to do successfully within five months and continued to race as a professional jockey in Barbados and Toronto for another 6 – 7 years.”

After seven successful years, Totally Barbados has become your comprehensive island guide, locally developed and maintained in Barbados, offering information related to living, visiting, working, and having fun in Barbados.

Totally Barbados is proud to be 100% Bajan!
