Barbados Hotel Industry Expanding

The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) is pleased with the level of development taking place in the island’s accommodation sector.

Executive Vice-President of the BHTA, Mrs. Susan Springer, informed that hundreds of additional rooms and upgraded facilities should be ready for the influx of visitors for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup approximately three months away.

“An additional 168 new rooms would be created as a result of developments at Silver Point Villa Hotel and Accra Beach Hotel & Resort. Almond Casuarina in Christ Church, is due to reopen in March, and Crane Resort and Residences in St. Philip was continuing its vigorous expansion project”, said Mrs. Springer.

She also disclosed that although Barbados was regarded as a mature destination, hundreds of millions of dollars is still being pumped into new construction, refurbishment and additional facilities, such as fitness rooms, business centres and restaurants.
