SCHEDULE OF EVENTS


SUNDAY, February 11 2007

4.00pm Opening Celebrations at the Holetown Monument with Dancin’ Africa, St. James Secondary School Steel Orchestra and Choir, the Queen of the Festival Jnana McClean and the contestants for 2007, presentation of awards. Blessing by Rev Martin Goodridge and Message from the Hon Mia Mottley.

5.30pm The Ceremony of Beating Retreat by the Zouave Band of the Barbados Defence Force.

6.00pm – 12.00 midnight The Holetown Liming Tent opens featuring TRACES Steel Band from Canada, with Karaoke and prizes. Open each evening from 6pm.

7.30pm The Festival Gospel Concert “The Rev. Tony Lowe and Associates of the Prayer Palace Ministries” at the Holetown Methodist Church. Admission $10.00.




MONDAY, February 12 2007

10.00 a.m The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk. “The Chattel Houses of Barbados” by Addington Forde at the Holetown Methodist Church

10.30am Opening of Exhibition “Holetown and the Slave Trade” by the Barbados Library Service in the Holetown Library, opens each day at 10.30am.

7.30pm PINE HILL DAIRY NIGHT at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring The Dancers from the School for the Hearing Impaired, Eggs with Cassius Clay, Tanya Clarke, Laurie Anne Caines, Cathy Charles, Natasha Williams and the Anthony Sargeant Combo. M.C: Carson Small.




TUESDAY February 13 2007

10.00am Bus Tour of Historic Holetown with Morris Greenidge (Limited seating)…Tickets from the Holetown Festival Information Booth. Bus leaves from the Holetown Library. Runs again on Thursday 15 Feb at 10am.

12.30pm – 3.00pm Lunchtime Concert: Featuring TRACES Steel Band from Canada at the Surfside Restaurant

7.30pm CABLE & WIRELESS BARBADOS NIGHT at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring United Voices of Christ, The Allison Forde Band and G-Syndicate M.C.




WEDNESDAY February 14 2007

10.00am The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk. “John Alleyne, a Barbadian lawyer in the fight against slavery” by Dr. Karl Watson at The Holetown Methodist Church.

7.30pm ROYAL BANK OF CANADA NIGHT at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) presenting A Jazzy Wednesday featuring The Abstract Jazz Band and The Janelle Headley Jazz Quintet




THURSDAY February 15 2007

12.30pm – 3.00pm Lunchtime Concert: Featuring TRACES Steel Band from Canada at the Surfside Restaurant

7.30pm SURFSIDE RESTAURANT NIGHT at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring Dancin Africa, Infra Red and Kimberley Inniss M.C.




FRIDAY February 16 2007

10.00am The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk. “The development and times of the George Washington House” by Penny Hynam at The Holetown Methodist Church.

7.30pm CHEFETTE RESTAURANTS NIGHT – Grant Floodlit Tattoo and night march at the Trents Playing Field with the band of The Royal Barbados Police Force, The Mounted Police, and the cadets of the Regional Police Training School, Dance Strides Barbados. Reserved seating by Ticket ($5.00) available at Surfside Restaurant and the Holetown Festival Information Booth.

12.00 midnight STREET FAIR STALLS CLOSE




SATURDAY February 17 2007

The 31st Annual Street Fair with Bajan Arts, Crafts, Food from Barbados and The Caribbean, The Glendairy Arts and Craft Centre, This That and T’other Shop, The Kiwanis Health Shop, American Pie Stall, The Banks Beer Garden. Traditional Tuk Band Music. food, books, jewelery, shoes, clothing, and toys.

11.00am THE BANKS / COCA COLA STREET PARADE featuring Vintage and Classic Cars, The Queen of The Festival Jnana McClean and the contestants for 2007, Stilt Walkers, The Barbados Cadet Corps, Dancin’ Africa, Erdiston and Luther Thorne Primary Schools.

12.00 noon The Holetown Methodist Church – Food for the Body and Soul – A home cooking restaurant on the lawn and in the flower decorated Church, short recitals by performers from 1.00 p.m to 6.00 p.m (Performances co-ordinated by Grace Thompson).

1.00pm The St. James Secondary School Band at the Chattel Stage

2.00pm THE BARBADOS TOURISM AUTHORITY presents “The Holetown Dooflicky” with Folk Parade and Bajan Carnival.

4.00pm Mini Concert at the Chattel Stage featuring Anna Marie Beckles

6.00pm THE BANKS / COCA COLA Sunset Concert with The Royal Barbados Police Force Band at the Seaside Theatre.

12.00 midnight STREET FAIR STALLS CLOSE




SUNDAY February 18 2007

9.00am Thanksgiving Service at the Holetown Methodist Church to mark the Anniversary of the First Settlement in 1627.

10.00am Street Fair Stalls re-open

3.00pm Mini Concert at the Chattel stage featuring Decisions Gospel Band

3.30pm The Michael Parravicino Memorial 10K Road Walk, from Speightstown to Holetown.

4.15pm The SAGICOR LIFE INC 10K Road Run on the same route. (Organized by Jim Wedderburn)

5.15pm Presentation of Prizes at the Chattel Stage.

6.00pm Gala Concert at the St. James Parish Church featuring The Band of the Barbados Defence Force and Phillip Forde on the Organ (Tickets $20.00 from the Holetown Festival Information Booth, the Church and at the door)

6.30pm The Spiritual Baptists Candlelight Procession and Worship Service at the Seaside Theatre.

7.30pm The Grand Finale – THE BANKS / COCA COLA QUEEN OF THE FESTIVAL PAGEANT with seven beautiful contestants in the Auditorium of the St. James Secondary School .(Admission $30.00 – Tickets at the door)

8.00pm STREET FAIR STALLS CLOSE.
