To celebrate the Anniversary of the First Settlement of Barbados


Sunday February 14th, 2009

4:00pm: Opening Celebrations at the Holetown Monument with Dancin’ Africa, St. James Parish Ambassadors, the Queen of the Festival Dannyele Leslie and the contestants for 2010, St. James Primary School Choir, Aceworx Ensemble, Haynesville Youth Group Drummers, Alicia Yarde-Collins, and presentation of awards. Blessing by Mr. Carson Small and Feature Address by the Honorable George Hutson.

5:30pm: The Ceremony of Beating Retreat by the Zouave Band of the Barbados Defence Force. The evening presented with the compliments of Super Centre, Holetown.

6:00pm: The Olakunde Steel Orchestra

6:00pm – 12:00 midnight: The Holetown Liming Tent opens, with the Banks / Coca Cola Karaoke competition.


Monday February 15th, 2009

10:00am: The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk “The Life and Times of the Merrymen” by Emile Straker at the Holetown Methodist Church. Compliments of Rotherley Construction Inc.

10:30am: Opening of Exhibition “The Alfred Pragnell Story” in the Holetown Library.

6:00pm – 12:00 midnight: The Holetown Liming Tent opens with the Banks / Coca Cola Karaoke competition from 9:00pm.

7:30pm: Jazzy Monday at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring The Stephan Walcott Jazz Quintet, The Singers, Signers and Dancers from the School for the Hearing Impaired, Singer Indra Rudder and Folk singers Kathy and Kay DaSilva.


Tuesday February 16th, 2009

9:30am: 1st Bus Tour of Historic Holetown with Morris Greenidge (Limited seating), tickets available from the Holetown Festival Information Booth. Bus leaves from the Holetown Library.

10:30am: Exhibition “The Alfred Pragnell Story” continues in the Holetown Library.

12:00pm: 2nd Bus Tour of Historic Holetown with Morris Greenidge (Limited seating), tickets available from the Holetown Festival Information Booth. Bus leaves from the Holetown Library.

12:30pm – 3:00pm: Lunchtime Concert featuring a popular steel band at the Surfside Restaurant

6:00pm – 12:00 midnight: The Holetown Liming Tent opens with the Banks / Coca Cola Karaoke competition from 9:00pm.

7:30pm: Gospel Explosion at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring The Soul Winners, Alicia Yarde-Collins, Adrian Green, ATZ Dancers, comedian Carson Small and Dwayne Husbands.


Wednesday February 17th, 2009

10:00am: The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk “West Indies Cricket and me” by the Rev, Wes Hall at the Holetown Methodist Church.

10:30am: Exhibition “The Alfred Pragnell Story” continues in the Holetown Library.

6:00pm – 12:00 midnight The Holetown Liming Tent opens with the Banks / Coca Cola Karaoke competition from 9:00pm.

7:30pm: Royal Bank Of Canada Night at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) presenting The Band Strategy, Adrian Green, NIFCA award winner Rhesa Garnes, Colin Spencer, Keisha Christian, Jennifer Walker and John King.


Thursday February 18th, 2009

7:30pm: Surfside Restaurant Night at the Seaside Theatre (Free Concert) featuring Calypsonians Mighty Grynner, Sir Ruel and Adrian Clarke, the Red Men, Haynes Youth Group drummers and dancers.


Friday February 19th, 2009

10:00am: The Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk “The Preserved Festival” by Sherwood Mc Caskie at the Holetown Methodist Church. Compliments of Rotherley Construction Inc.

10:30am: Exhibition “The Alfred Pragnell Story” continues in the Holetown Library.

6:00pm – 12:00 midnight: The Holetown Liming Tent opens with the Banks / Coca Cola Karaoke competition from 9:00pm.

8:00pm: Chefette Restaurants Night
Grand Floodlit Tattoo and night march at the Trents Playing Field with the band of The Royal Barbados Police Force, The Mounted Police, and the cadets of the Regional Police Training School: Reserved seating by Ticket ($5.00) available at Surfside Restaurant and the Holetown Festival Information Booth.

12:00 midnight: Street Fair Stalls Close

11:00am: The Meguiars / Automotive Art Street Parade featuring Vintage and Classic Cars, The Queen of The Festival Dannyelle Leslie and the contestants for 2010, Stilt Walkers, the Barbados Cadet Corps, Dancin’ Africa, The Barbados Landship, Erdiston and Luther Thorne Primary Schools, the Learning Centre and the Parish Ambassadors.

12:00 noon: The Holetown Methodist Church, Food for the Body and Soul.
A home cooking restaurant on the lawn and in the flower decorated Church, short recitals by performers from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. (Performances co-ordinated by Maurice Greenidge).

1:00pm: Mini Concert at the Chattel Stage.

2:00pm: The Barbados Tourism Authority presents “The Holetown Dooflicky” with Folk Parade and Bajan Carnival.

4:00pm: Mini Concert at the Chattel Stage.

6:00pm: The Banks Coca Cola Sunset Concert with The Royal Barbados Police Force Band at the Seaside Theatre.

8:30pm: Musical Explosion

12:00 midnight: Street Fair Stalls Close.


Sunday February 21st, 2009

9:00am: Thanksgiving Service at the St. James Parish Church to mark the Anniversary of the First Settlement in 1627.

10:00am: Street Fair Stalls re-open.

3:30pm: The Barbados Pathfinder Band drill and musical display

3:30pm: The Michael Parravicino Memorial 7K Road Walk, from Speightstown to Holetown. Sponsored by Realtors Ltd. and organized by St. Clair Ward for Walk Barbados.

4:15pm: Direct Motoring Inc 7K Road Run, from Speightstown to Holetown (Organized by Jim Wedderburn).

5:15pm: Presentation of Prizes at the Chattel Stage.

6:00pm: Gala Concert “Classics By Candlelight” at the St: James Parish Church – Tickets: $20.00, from the Holetown Festival Information Booth and the Church.

6:30pm: The Spiritual Baptists Candlelight Procession and Worship Service at the Seaside Theatre.

7:30pm: The Grand Finale – The Banks Coca Cola Queen of The Festival Pageant with six beautiful contestants in the Auditorium of the St: James Secondary School. Admission: $30.00 – Tickets at the door.

8:00pm: Street Fair Stalls Close.
