Virgin Atlantic Music Festival 2008 – Monday November 3rd 2008

Hip Slinky at Mojos Perone Gap Worthing Christ Church Barbados.

The first night on tour for The Virgin Atlantic Music Festival was held at Mojos, whose theme is always music for the people and they lived up to their name by show casing Hip Slinky, a leading Indie band from the UK.

Hip Slinky had headlined the Hellraiser’s Ball on Halloween down at Surfer’s Bay and a good crowd turned out again to see a repeat performance in a more intimate setting.

The band set up on the outside deck and the entire garden of Mojo was literally standing room only as the audience gathered round to hear Hip Slinky again.

The three-piece band comprised of Walter Heale on lead guitar and vocals, Jon Baxter on drums, keyboards and backing vocals and Raphael Chesterman on bass guitar.

The band sold their album ‘Headhunted‘ at the opening night of the festival so the crowd were now familiar with their music and requested their favorites such as ‘Put yourself in care’, ‘Drifting’ and ‘Natural’.

The band played a full 90-minute set with a break and was a huge hit with the audience. Walter’s vocal range is very impressive and he has an unusual voice, which was really appreciated.

The party continued into the small hours with the usual Mojo atmosphere – shots, shots and more shots! Everyone enjoyed hearing sounds from the UK that they can’t hear in Barbados every day of the week.
